What is “Dororo”?

Dororo is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the manga artist Osamu Tezuka.
The series was first serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shounen Sunday between 1967 and 1968, before being cancelled. The manga was later concluded in Akita Shoten's magazine in 1969. Two anime series adaptation, one by Mushi Productions, and the other by MAPPA and Tezuka Productions, were also released. The original anime series is considered to be the first entry to what is now known as the World Masterpiece Theater series.
The series won the Eisner award in 2009. The series is considered a classic, and the mangaka Osamu Tezuka, is considered the God father of modern manga.

What’s the story?

This story takes place in the Sengoku period of Japanese history.
In order to gain wealth and prosperity for his rotting land, a daimyo named kagemitsu daigo visits a temple to bargain with the demons.
He tells the demons to give his land wealth and prosperity and in return can have anything he owns.
The demons ask for his to be born son, to which the daimyo agrees.
Demons due to this contract escape from the temple to commit atrocities in the neighbouring lands.
The daimyo then kills the priest of the temple. He places his sword on the dead priest, on which lightning strikes burning the priest.
Soon after, the daimyo’s son is born into the world but what comes doesn’t look like a human.
He is missing his ears, limbs, eyes, skin among other things. He looks like a breathing skeleton with some muscles.
The mother is devastated for her son. But the daimyo doesn’t even see him as his son. He wants to kill the child but the mother Intervenes.
The daimyo tells his wife that the only way that their son will be allowed to live, is if he is far away from this land.
So the only choice the mother has is to place him In a basket covered in bandages and set him adrift in the river.
As she sees her child drifting away from her, she can’t control her tears.
The drifting boy is later saved and is given the name, Hyakkimaru, by a medicine man named Jukai-sensei.
What will happen to Hyakkimaru? How will he get his body back from those demons?
