Now August is almost over…… That means 2020 Summer Anime are coming to an end too!? Among all the scheduled 2020 Fall Anime, I look forward watching Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, the sequel of InuYasha most!
Hello everybody. I’m Manga Republic’s Boss.
Yeah, actually, I’m a little curious about that title too. Just the other day, its trailer went on public and it sounded quite fun, actually! I felt so nostalgic with InuYasha’s chara and also felt happy about how well they grew…… I was quite moved since I have watched it all the way to the final episode.
So today! To enjoy Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, starting to air in October, even more! Not only InuYasha but we’ll also share with you its author Takahashi Rumiko-Sensei’s manga worldview!

About Takahashi Rumiko-Sensei

Starting her career as a manga artist in 1978, she’s had several commercially successful works, mostly serialized in Shonen Sunday. From her first name, she has a nickname called Rumic.
Her style is mostly a comedy and a (youth) love story with dynamic action scenes.
“I wonder if there is anything fun to do other than drawing manga……”
From what she mentions, we can tell how much she loves to create manga. She (literally) devotes all her life to creating manga and she is always passionate about starting to create new work even right after one series comes to an end.
By the way, over 100 million individual books that she individually drew were sold in 1995, and in 2017, the number climbed up to 200 million. Having received various awards, she’s been constantly working on manga for the Shonen magazine since her debut in 1978.
Wow, again, I realized she is such an amazing manga artist. She is a great figure as well as a manga artist, huh?
Yep. Not just with her illustrations but she has her unique worldview also with her style…… So! These are some of Takahashi Rumiko-Sensei’s masterpieces!

Genre: Sengoku Battle Fantasy (Best Recommended for the Beginners!!!)
Kagome, a 15-year-old girl, is dragged into the well in her family’s property. And Kagome finds herself in another universe which is during Japan’s Sengoku period, where the demons existed!
There, Kagome comes across a boy, who is InuYasha, a【half dog-demon (yokai) 】. Because they meet, the supreme treasure, the “Shikon Jewel” is revived, which is thought to have been missing since Sengoku period. The “Shikon Jewel” is thought to be able to make any wishes of those, who acquire, come true.
These two chara will face battles and conspiracies by the yokai, over this treasure……!

Genre: Fighting Love Comedy (1~3 Episodes Complete Story! Gag Manga! Best Recommended for those who love gag manga!!)
The main protagonist, a boy, Ranma, is almost drowned in “a cursed spring, where a young girl got drown before”, during a training journey in China. As a result, Ranma gets cursed and he has got a special body, where he turns into a girl when he pours water over his head!
This is a youth (school day) love story, full of gags, about Ranma and his fiancé, Akane (their parents have decided on their promised marriage)!

Rin-ne (Kyoukai no Rinne)

Genre: Requiem Comedy (A classic style title, following the InuYasha’s style!)
The main protagonists are Rinne, who is a shinigami boy (reaper), and Sakura, who becomes able to see ghosts.
Sakura has become able to see ghosts after she was spirited away when little. One day, Sakura runs across the scene, where her classmate, Rinne, is fighting against the evil spirits.
As a shinigami, Rinne’s job is to guide spirits, whose regrets bind them to Earth, to the wheel of reincarnation, a large, red spoked wheel revolving in the sky, so that they may be reborn.
Sakura, who is always willing to help people, decides to help him out. This is a story, where these two solve the mysterious incidents caused by various spirits!

Genre: SF Gag Comedy (Quite an old title, and it could be a starting line of her titles!)
The main protagonist, Moroboshi Ataru, is a 2nd year high school boy, who loves girls.
One day, an alien race known as the Oni arrive on earth to invade the planet. The Oni gives humans a condition, where the Oni give humans a chance to fight for the right to the planet by taking part in a competition. If the Oni wins, they invade the planet right away but if the humans win, they just surrender and go back to their place.
Ataru, who is picked out by the Oni as a representative of the humans, willingly accepts that offer, having found out that the competition is a variant of the game of tag (known as “the game of the Oni” in Japanese) and the representative of the Oni is Lum, who is such a beautiful girl with a nice body. He struggles for the first nine days since Lum is able to fly.
However, that night, his childhood friend, Shinobu (who Ataru has a crush on) says, “I will marry to Ataru if he wins Lum.” Having heard her say that, he ends up beating Lum on the very last day (with the worst means by luring Lum, using her underwear).
And now he is able to save peace of the planet but…… While competing, Ataru yells, “If I win, I can get married to (Shinobu)~!” Unfortunately, Lum thinks she’s got proposed by him! And, she ends up accepting his propose!
This is a crazy SF gag comedy by such crazy Lum and Ataru!

Genre: Serious horror (a very rare title that doesn’t contain love comedy element)
About 500 years ago, the fisherman, Ryouta, ate mermaid flesh just for fun. While all his buddies die one after another, only Ryouta survives, having got the eternal youth. To get his original body back, he goes on a journey, looking for the mermaid, when he meets a girl named Mana, who is a prisoner……?
This is a story, where he encounters various mysteries and yokai through mermaid.
It’s quite a rare title, full of extreme expressions such as naked bodies, blood, dead bodies, which can’t be seen in other titles.

To the beginners of Takahashi Rumiko-Sensei’s titles, I would recommend InuYasha if you want to enjoy the adventure fantasy, and I would recomme d Ranma 1/2 if you want to enjoy a love comedy full of gag element!!
For most of the titles, each episode stands alone (too many volumes though.), so you can read them through once you get into it, which is one of the attractions of these titles!
