【Drama Physical Manga】“Makumusubi”, One of the Nominees at physical Manga grand prize 2020!

It’s an annual Japanese physical Manga Award, limited to series with eight or fewer collected volumes, which were published one year prior to when they are selected (From Jan 1st to Dec 31st). The‘Manga Taisho’ (Cartoon grand prize) has started since 2008. Chihayafuru in 2009, Golden Kamuy in 2016 and BEASTARS in 2018 became the winners.

A girl, Tsuchikure Sakura, who loved to draw, quit drawing them after her friend said one simple thing to her.

I cannot convey anything to anybody through Manga I draw.

She realized it and felt so shocked that she decided to quit drawing ‘Physical Manga’ and tried to look for something new to start when she turned into a high school student.

While she was struggled with it, the drama club which Sakura joined was about to be folded due to a shortage of the members.

One of the members, Sato Moka, was planning to create a very attractive performance for the welcome party for the new students so some of them will join the club. She was so desperate to become the winner at the national competition.

The scenario that they used for the performance at the welcome party was…. surprisingly, the one that Sakura had drawn and given up with. Sakura had brought her notebook, full of her original Manga, to school, which she wasn’t supposed to, and her teacher confiscated and was going to throw that away…. However, somehow, Moka accidentally saw it before the teacher threw it away. Sakura was trying to stop her from using that scenario but…

All the new students were completely glued to such an overwhelming performance by Moka.

Sakura saw Moka replicating everything such as lines or the worldview, which Sakura had created, having an overwhelming presence. Sakura ended up having seen all her performances.

After the performance, Sakura asked the friend, who had said “It’s not good at all.”, how the performance was. She said,

Sakura then talked to Moka.

She asked Moka why she used her Manga and why it didn’t attract her friend but the one with your performance did. Moka replied.

Your drawing is horrible, full of just the faces, which can never show us the situation.

It’s the worst as Manga, Moka said pleasantly.

However, Maka admitted that it was such an amazing drama from the bottom of her heart.

Moka said to Sakura.
