【Berserk】Dark Fantasy x Sword and Sorcery Over 50 million copies in circulation!! Received the 6th installment of the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize!!

Berserk is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kentaro Miura.

The Berserk manga has over 50 million copies in circulation, worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. It received the Award for Excellence at the 6th installment of the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2002. The series was highly praised by fans and critics, particularly for its dark setting, storytelling, characters, and Miura's detailed artwork.

Miura died of aortic dissection in May 2021.

The story begins with Guts, the main character, having sex with a woman. As they are having sex, the woman slowly transforms into a demon, saying that Guts has nowhere to run, Guts replies, “it is you who is trapped”, and kills the demon.

Later, Guts enters a tavern, he sees some bandits throwing knives at an enslaved elf. He kills all the bandits except one, telling him to go and give a message to his master, that the Black Swordsman is coming.

The elf follows Guts, and introduces himself as Puck. As Puck is telling Guts to leave town, the town guards surround and capture Guts.

As he is being tortured, the mayor shows up and tells him, that the men he killed belonged to Snake Baron. He tells Guts that Snake Baron is a monster and is too powerful to be defeated by a human being.

The mayor goes to Snake Baron’s castle to apologize, but he decides to kill the mayor. Snake Baron then launches an attack on the town, killing men, women and children.

In the meanwhile, Guts escapes with the help of Puck. He reaches the battle field, shooting Snake Baron with his cross-bow, which causes him to fall of his horse. But he gets back up instantly, and turns Into a Snake Monster.

Baron attacks Guts multiple times in his new form, and defeats him. He picks him up to kill him but Guts converts his metal arm into a Canon and shoots Baron, destroying his face.

As Baron is dying, Guts has a very sinister look on his face. Baron sees a mark on his neck and refers to it as the, brand of sacrifice,. Guts then leaves Baron, as he burns to death.
