What's the story?

The moon...... There’s something strange about the moon. Whenever I see the moon, I just want to return......I want to go back...... I want to go back......I so want to go back.
The story begins with Arisu Sakaguchi, the main character, staring out the house window, while his little brother, Hajime, continues speculating about the extinction of dinosaurs, to there mother.
Hajime calls her out, saying that if she has the time to sit around staring at the sky, instead she can go but some tofu. Arisu immediately declines, but then her mother and Hajime emotionally blackmail her into going anyway.
While she’s out buying tofu, Hajime and her mother discuss there concerns about her not being able to make any friends due to her shy behavior. Arisu recently had to transfer to a new school due to her father’s job. She actually has the ability to understand the feelings of plants and flowers, and even talks to them.
As she’s walking back home after buying tofu, she feels someone approaching her from behind. It’s Rin Kobayashi, her neighbor, a seven-year-old annoying feisty and troublesome brat who does nothing but cause problems for her.
Rin greets her and offers her gum. She is hesitant at first, but then decides to take him up on his offer. He asks her to open her mouth, and as soon as she does, he spits the gum he was chewing into her mouth, and himself starts chewing on a new one.
He then swiftly hops on as her delicate self stands there, trying to process what just happened.
That night, she cried herself to sleep.
The next morning, as she’s heading to school, Rin again shows up and offers her gum. She angrily shuns his hand, causing the gum to falls down. Rin starts crying which leads to her feeling guilty and buying him a new gum.
She gets to school, walking all by herself, when a girl from her class, Mariko Suzuki, notices gum stuck to her hair. Arisu immediately realizes what Rin had done. Immediately, the other girls see this and surround Arisu, trying to help her get the gum off her hair. She ends up talking with some of the girls and actually gets along with them.
Another student, Ganpachi notices her from afar and finds her very attractive.
At the end of it all, she’s not angry at Rin anymore, as because of what he did, she finally got to talking to the other girls and made some friends.
After school, she happily starts hopping back home. She realizes that Rin gets off at the same and decides to wait a bit longer, to avoid confronting him. She hears a noise from behind the bushes and decides to go check.
It’s Ginpachi and another student. Seeing how close they are while talking, she misunderstands the situation and thinks of them as gay lovers.
She decides to leave, but as soon as she turns around, Ginpachi spots her. Embarrassed by this, she takes off while screaming.
She gets home, exhausted, only to find Rin’s mother waiting for him. She requests Arisu to baby Rin the next day, while she has a Chorus to attend. Rin really doesn’t want to, but is unable to refuse Rin’s mother.
That night, she again cried herself to sleep......
But little does she know, that an accident is about to take place, which will change her life completely. From here on out, this story is about to take a new twist.
