The chapter opens up by showing a frail looking women with snake-like eyes and covered in armor, severing the head of a monster known as a Yoma.
Elsewhere, a dead body turns up, with its guts eaten by a Yoma. A meeting is held at the village chiefs house, where the chief professes to have requested the service of a Claymore.
Zaki is against it but the chief has no alternative, as a Yoma can take on a human form and only a Claymore can detect its aura.
As the meeting comes to an end and Zaki leaves the office, his younger brother Raki, who was eavesdropping on the meeting asks him about Claymore’s. Zaki explains that Claymore’s are made my mixing Yoma flesh with a human, and only women can become Claymore’s.
There is a sudden commotion among the villagers, the Claymore is here. Raki runs to the scene. While everyone looks afraid of the Claymore, Raki finds her quite beautiful.
After meeting with the village chief, she heads out to find the Yoma. She senses someone behind her and swings her sword but stops midway, it is Raki.
Raki says that he was only following her because he found her beautiful.
They end up talking for a while, where Raki reveals that his parents were the first ones to be killed by the Yoma.
He hears a Gong and hurries home, saying that since he lives with his uncle, he likes to help out with dinner. As he is leaving, he asks her name but she denies, saying that he will forget it anyway.
Raki arrives home, where he finds the blood splattered body of his uncle. Terror-Stricken, he looks over to his brother, who with his veins popping out of his head, slowly starts to transform into a Yoma.
The Yoma reveals that the day he killed his parents, he also took over Zaki’s body. In a fit of rage, Raki runs toward him, but the Yoma easily throws him across the room with a single strike.
The Claymore crashes through the ceiling and explains that since Raki smelled of a Yoma, she simply followed him here.
The Yoma not realizing the Claymore’s strength, dashes towards her, but she easily gets behind him, cutting his arm off.
He tries to use Raki as a shield by taking him hostage, but the Claymore again uses her speed to get close and sever his other arm.
Now afraid, the Yoma begs her to spare him, but she finishes him of by slashing his body in two.
She tucks her sword on her back and leaves, while a frightened Raki sits in the corner.
The next day, Raki is sitting in the Chief’s office, when he finds out that the Claymore is leaving the village. He immediately gets up and runs after her. He thanks her for saving his life and again asks for her name, saying that he will never forget it.
She replies, “Clair”.
