Suzuka is a Japanese rom-com franchise written and illustrated by Kouji Seo.

The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine from March 2004 to September 2007. Its chapters are compiled and published into 18 separate volumes. Two light novels based on the series, written by Ayuna Fujisaki, have also been published.

An anime adaptation by Studio Comet was also released in 2005, consisting of 26 episodes.

Yamato Akitsuki, a kid who relocated to Tokyo to better himself, and Suzuka Asahina, a brilliant high-jumper who lives in the same dormitory and attends the same high school as Yamato, are the protagonists of the series. The series follows their romantic relationship.

After a 7-hour voyage, Yamato arrives in Tokyo. On his way to his aunt’s dormitory, where he will be staying, he comes across a beautiful girl performing high jumps in the rain. His aunt and cousin, Miho-Chan, are waiting for him at the dormitory, wishing him a warm welcome to Asahi High, the super public bath and women's dorm.

As per his agreement with his aunt, which was to help clean her hostel for some extra cash, Yamato begins cleaning the bath.

While cleaning, he wonders about the girl he saw earlier. As Miho-chan tells him to hurry, two university students arrive to take a bath.

Saotome, one of the girls, grabs Yamato's hand and places it on her breast, prompting Miho to push Yamato. Yamato collides with the other girl, Megumi, as she falls on his face. While all of this is going on, Suzuka, the high-jumper from earlier, appears in the bath and misunderstanding the situation, tells them to keep their private lives private.

Yamato returns to his room to find a hole in his wall, covered by a piece of cardboard. After being startled by his aunt's voice, he falls through the hole and ends up in Suzuka's room. Ayano-San, Yamato’s aunt, apologizes to Suzuka and promises to repair the wall as quickly as possible. She reveals how Suzuka was scouted for the track team and might even represent japan someday.

Suzuka tells Yamato to clean up her room and refrain from acting recklessly. As he finishes, she tosses him out of her room, claiming that she despises careless thinking the most. Miho appears in Suzuka's room after Yamato has left and apologizes in his place.

Saotome and Megumi show up drunk in Yamato’s room. Megumi starts complaining about her romantic life to Yamato as she gets more drunk. She takes off her shirt, saying that Yamato was thinking about her breasts as well. She passes out drunk, as Yamato leaves to clean the bath.

He discovers Suzuka unconscious in the sauna. To assist her, he kicks in the door and alerts Ayano-San. “Suzuka is merely dehydrated”, Ayano-San adds, and she'll be well in no time as she leaves the two alone.

Suzuka wakes up and explains how she was trying to lose some weight in hopes of jumping even higher, for which she gets scolded by Yamato. Yamato tells her to loosen up and not care about what others say as the two warm up a bit to each other.

The next day, Yamato assists Suzuka in training. Without realising it, he sets the bar to 173cm instead of 164cm. Suzuka grazes the rod as she narrowly avoids tripping over it. She smiles as she examines the scale and sees that she has surpassed her previous best of 169cm.

Ayano-san informs him of the cost of repairing the damage he has caused while breaking the sauna door. Just then, Saotome and Megumi breach through the hole in the wall that they had just repaired, exposing that Yamato had looked at Megumi's breasts, disappointing Miho and Suzuka.

Yamato tries to explain, as the chapter comes to an end.
