Are you a home tutor? Or are you not?

Reborn! started off with a wimpy middle school boy named “Tsunayoshi Sawada”.
The very first page of the story showed Tsunayoshi getting hit in the face by a ball and fell to the ground. His classmates blamed him for their lost in the basketball game and ran off, leaving Tsunayoshi with cleaning duty. “You can do it no-good Tsuna!”. That was his nickname – No-good Tsuna.
Tsunayoshi’s mom, knowing full well that her son has no ambition in life, tried to motivated him. She hired a home tutor after coming across a flyer in their mailbox. The flyer said “I will raise your kid to be the new leader of the next generation. Grade and subject don’t matter.” What an interesting advertisement for home tutoring!
Tsunayoshi argued with his mom that a home tutor wouldn’t be of help since he was not good at anything he had done anyways. Right at that moment......
“Ciaossu” – a funny character appeared. He looked like a baby that was dressed in an all-black suit, complete with a hat and a pacifier around his neck. “I’m Reborn, the home tutor”, he said.
Tsunayoshi busted out laughing and said what could he possibly learn from a little baby. In reply to that, the baby called Reborn abruptly kicked Tsunayoshi in his stomach. A kick powerful enough to send him crashing down onto the floor.
Reborn pulled out a gun, and with an innocent smile he said “My real job is to make you a mafia boss”.
Reborn explained that he was assigned by a mysterious man to train Tsunayoshi into an astounding mafia boss. Tsunayoshi could not believe his ears but the baby seemed to be dead-serious.

The power of dying will and regrets

On the way to school, Tsunayoshi saw the girl he liked – Sasagawa Kyoko, but he instantly hid behind the wall once he had spotted her. Reborn asked Tsunayoshi if he told Kyoko about his feelings, Tsunayoshi just replied that she was way out of his league and it would be useless to even confess.
That loser complex is not good at all – Reborn thought. He pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Tsunayoshi’s head. Thinking it was a toy gun, Tsunayoshi got angry at Reborn for the tasteless joke and was about to turn away. That was when it happened.
It wasn’t a toy gun. Reborn shot Tsunayoshi in the head and as he fell down, his heart was filled with regrets. What a waste – he thought, if he had known that he would die like this, he would have told Kyoko how he felt.
The moment his body hit the ground; a weird sound started to come out from Tsunayoshi’s lifeless body. Then suddenly......
“REBORN!!!” – Tsunayoshi yelled as he came back from the dead with a burning red flame on his forehead. Tsunayoshi seemed strangely agitated and different from his usual self. He exclaimed that he would go to tell Kyoko how he felt with his dying will.
Running barefoot in only his boxer, this new Tsunayoshi didn’t care about anyone seeing him. He caught up with Kyoko with an impressive speed and boldly said “Sasagawa Kyoko, please go out with me”.
Seeing Tsunayoshi in only his boxer, Kyoko got scared and ran away. That was when the flame on Tsunayoshi’s forehead finally went out and he came back to his normal self.
Reborn was watching the whole scene and calmly explained to Tsunayoshi that it was all the effect of a special bullet he was shot with. That bullet was called the “Dying will bullet”. A person that was shot with this bullet would resurrect with dying will after dying. The dying will would be based on what that person was regretting when they die. However, if he wasn’t regretting anything the moment he was shot, he would have died for real. “Well, I am an assassin”, Reborn simply said, his expression remained unchanged.
At home, Reborn explained more clearly that dying will would mean all the safety switches of the body were off. In exchange for facing death, the person who was shot with “Dying will bullet” can harness extraordinary strengths. And this special bullet was a secret weapon passing through generations of an Italian mafia family called Vongola.
“I was assigned by the Vongola Family’s 9th generation boss to come to Japan and raise you to become a mafia boss”, Reborn said. All the other potential candidate for the 10th generation boss were either found dead or murdered. The only legitimate candidate left would be Tsunayoshi as his great-great-great grandfather was the first boss of the Vongola Family.

A peculiar home tutor and his student

At school, Tsunayoshi was challenged to a kendo match by Mochida – an upper classman and an admirer of Kyoko who witnessed the confession scene the day before. Mochida wanted to defeat Tsunayoshi to avenged the disrespect Kyoko was treated with when Tsunayoshi confessed his feelings to her while wearing only his boxer. “I shall defeat you”, Mochida angrily said, “You pervert stalker”.
Mochida has set the whole thing up so that he would easily win. The clothes and amor given to Tsunayoshi would be super heavy and the judge would be one of Mochida’s friends. In front of the whole school, Mochida proclaimed that the winning prize would be Kyoko even though she was shocked and refused to be a part of it.
As for Tsunayoshi, he intended to just go home because he would not win anyways. That was when Reborn suddenly appeared and caught him by the leg. Reborn shot Tsunayoshi again and as he was dying, his heart was filled with regrets that he would have beaten Mochida with the power of the “Dying will bullet”.
Tsunayoshi revived just like last time with a burning red flame on his forehead and wore only his boxer. He ran straight into the sport hall where Mochida was waiting. As everyone laughed and mocked Tsunayoshi for being a pervert, Tsunayoshi faced Mochida head-on and knocked him down with a single headbutt.
Then, he pushed Mochida onto the floor, tackled him and pulled out a bunch of his hair. “I got 100 points”, he said. As in kendo, a competitor can claim a point by landing a strike on the opponent’s headgear. In Tsunayoshi’s case, he pulled out 100 strands of hair on Mochida’s head and claimed 100 points.
Then he proceeded to pull out all of Mochida’s hair until Mochida turned bald-headed. The judge raised a red flag indicating that Tsunayoshi has won and the flame on Tsunayoshi’s forehead finally went out as he returned to normal.
The whole school busted out into cheers as they excitedly praised Tsunayoshi for a crazy match. Even Kyoko was surprised, she said that Tsunayoshi was incredible and apologized for running away when Tsunayoshi confessed without giving him a chance.
Tsunayoshi realized that even though the things Reborn said and done were all crazy, all this wouldn’t be possible without him. Tsunayoshi rushed home to thank Reborn for helping him become friends with Kyoko. As he found Reborn sleeping, Tsunayoshi ran over and intended to wake him up. That was when......
Tsunayoshi tripped over a wire that Reborn laid out as a trap. He accidently set off a grenade and his whole room was engulfed in an almost comical explosion. “I will never be in the mafia”, Tsunayoshi said as he crawled out from the rubble and a flying silhouette of Reborn could be spotted, still sleeping as a parachute would carry him up safe and sound.
What will happen next as this crazy baby home tutor turn the life of no-good Tsunayoshi upside down?
