【Yugami-kun ni wa Tomodachi ga Inai】 Comedy! One of the best School comedies around!!

Yugami-kun ni wa Tomodachi ga Inai is a Japanese comedy manga series written and illustrated by Jun Sakura.

The manga series was serialized in Shogakukan’s Shounen Sunday S from May 2012 to September 2013, then it was transferred to Weekly Shounen Sunday were it was serialized from October 2013 to May 2019. Its chapters are compiled and collected into 16 separate volumes.

An anime series has not yet been adapted, but two anime commercials adapted by A-1 Pictures have been released.

The story begins with Chihiro Watanuki, a new transfer student, trying to find a slot to park her cycle, but it seems like all the slots are full.

That is when Yuugi Yugami arrives, removes a misplaced cycle from the slot and parks his own cycle. Chihiro asks weather it’s ok to do that, to which Yugami asks whether she is a new student, she affirms. Before Chihiro says anything else, he takes out another misplaced cycle, making place for her. She thanks him and they head their separate ways.

School begins, Chihiro introduces herself to the entire class and the teacher assigns her a desk. As she goes over to her desk, she is surprised to see Yugami sitting next to her. She again thanks him for before.

As the class proceeds, Chihiro feels a chilling wind come through the window, asking Yugami to close the window but he plainly refuses.

During lunch, the other girls tell Chihiro to stay away from Yugami, as he is a weirdo. It is also revealed that he is the Ace of the baseball team, so no one bullies him either.

The next day, they both again meet in the parking lot, with Yugami again freeing a slot for her. But this time, the third year student whose bike Yugami removed, reads Chihiro’s name on the bike and calls her to the baseball locker room after school.

Chihiro apologizes to the third year student, who tells her to write a week long apology letter given to them by the school. She has no choice but to agree, but Yugami shows up, backing Chihiro by putting the entire blame on the senior students for parking in the wrong slot, thus saving her from writing the apology letter.

The next day, as they are sitting in class, Yugami sneezes due to the cold weather. Chihiro tells him to close the window but he still refuses. Chihiro is starting to believe that Yugami really is a weirdo.

Is this the start of a new friendship?
