The chapter begins with Tetsuo Morita, a penniless gambling addict, again losing money after betting on race horses. Suddenly, he notices money falling from the sky. He excitedly grabs some of the falling money, only to be disappointed that it was actually just race tickets and not money.
Stressed out, he starts cursing and kicking the air, when a white haired man wearing a nice suit, approaches him and offers to buy him a drink. Morita accepts.
At the pub, the old man introduces himself as Ginji Hirai and offers Morita a job, for which the payment will be 100,000 yen. Morita suspects the job to be illegal, but hearing the massive amount of payment, he immediately accepts.
The next day, early in the morning, Ginji arrives in a shoddy old truck. After a while, another truck shows up. They take the trucks cargo and place it in their own truck. The cargo looks like boxes of orange.
Ginji and Morita get in their truck and drive of
While on the road, Morita curiously asks about what’s inside the boxes. Ginji explains the concept of illicit lending to him. They con banks and steal money in this manner. Morita is taken aback when he learns that the boxes contain 1 billion yen.
They stop in front of a crappy looking apartment, where they shift all the boxes. As soon as they are done with the shifting, Ginji heads into the shower, while Morita looks after the boxes.
To check if Ginji was actually telling the truth about the 1 billion yen, Morita decides to open a box. He is baffled on the sight of such massive amounts of money.
That is when he looks to the window and sees a bunch on men staring at him. He slams into Ginji, who had just gotten out of the shower, as he runs away from the window.
Ginji calls these men inside, how upon entering, start bowing in front of Ginji. Morita looks at Ginji and wonders who he really is.
Who really is Ginji? Is he just a simple thief, or something much more?
