【Magical Girl Site】Dark-Fantasy x Magical Girl! A dark and twisted take on the Magical Girl genre!!

Magical Girl Site is a Japanese dark-fantasy and Magical Girl franchise written and illustrated by Kentaro Sato.

The was serialized in Weekly Shounen Champion from October 2017 to August 2019. Its chapters are compiled and published into 16 separate volumes. This series pulls off a Dark and twisted take on the Magical Girl genre.

An anime adaptation of the manga was also released in 2018, with the anime adapted by production doA.

The story is about a tormented and suicidal middle school girl, Aya, who gains the ability to become a magical girl through some mysterious website. Aya also finds out her friends are magical girls as well. The story follows them as they face and battle enemies, while Aya must keep herself and her friends alive.

We open up with a breakfast scene at a house. A boy, a girl and their parents are having breakfast at the table. The boy is being praised for being a prodigy and working hard as he goes on ahead for school. Before leaving, he messages his sister, Aya, that “he will have fun today as well.”

Aya begins an inner monologue, saying that all she ever thinks about is dying.

Aya stops by a kitten in a box on her way to school and vows to find it a home before continuing. Someone slips a razor blade into her shoes at school, and she cuts herself, much to the amusement of the other females.

Even in class, another female student puts glue on her seat and forces her to sit down. Her desk is filled with abuses aimed at her. She is bullied even after class, as a bunch of girls beat her up and shove her head inside a toilet.

She thinks to herself that why she is the only one who is treated like this. Everywhere she goes, she always faces some form of abuse or torment. When she comes home, her brother ties her up and abuses her both physically and sexually. She pleads for him to stop, all for naught.

While she is laying on her bed, lifeless, she notices a mysterious website ‘Shoujo Site’ open on her computer, which promises to grant the user magical power. She clicks on it and not taking it any seriously, forgets about it before going to sleep.

On her way to school the next day, she comes across the mangled corpse of the cat that she was taking care of. The cat was run over by a train. Aya is devastated and runs off to school. Over there, she finds a gun placed in her locker, with a manual which contains the picture of the women on the Mahou Shoujo Site. She quickly hides it in her bag before anyone notices.

After class, her bullies bring her to a secluded part of the school and admit to killing her cat. The girls call out a senior boy from their school who gets ready to sexually assault Aya. Aya barely escapes and hides under a bridge but they find her in no time.

Without thinking, Aya takes out the magical gun and pulls the trigger. With a poof, her pursuers vanish and end up dead after being run over by a train. The people cause a commotion as Aya realizes that she killed them. A mysterious girl in the background welcomes Aya to the Mahou Shoujo World.
