JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency is the second story arc of the manga series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki.

The series was serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump from November 1987 to March 1989. It’s 69 chapters are collected in 7 separate volumes. The entire jojo series has over 100 million copies in circulation, worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.

The series got its anime TV serialization by David Productions, in 2012.

In the year 1938, 49 years after the events of Phantom Blood, we see Speedwagon and Straizo meeting after a long time. They both travel to Egypt in a private plane, to see a mummy, which was found by Speedwagon’s excavators.

It’s not the mummy that they are interested in, it’s the carving of the evil mask on the stone on which the mummy rest’s.

Meanwhile, in New York, a young man is buying Coca Cola from a street vendor. As he takes out his wallet, an African-American boy snatches it and makes a run for it.

He doesn’t get too far, when he’s stopped by a couple of policemen. The officers start beating the boy up, only because he’s black.

The young man shows up and tries to cover for the boy, by saying that the wallet was a gift from him.

The corrupt officers do not care and one of them takes out a booger from his nose and rubs it in the young man’s face.

The young man asks the officer, why he’s doing this, to which the officer replies, “I have no reason! I’m doing this because it’s what I feel like doing”. Saying this, the officer again puts his finger in this nose, but this time the young man gets angry and punches the officer, causing his finger to tear through his nose.

As the officer screams in pain, the other officer takes out his gun to shoot the man, but with some mysterious power, the man shoots a soda cap towards his finger. The overwhelming power behind the bottle cap, shreds the cops finger to pieces. Seeing this, both the man and the boy make a run for it.

The boy thanks the man for saving him and introduces himself as Smokey. He asks the man about his mysterious power, but not even he knows, he just inherited it from his Grandfather, Jonathan Joestar. He then introduces himself as, Joseph Joestar,.
