Yep! I mean, I think it was a wise decision that they made so people and Anime and Manga cultures can be saved! I know that but…… I still feel sorry about it…… It’s one of the best annual events, you know?
Yeah. But it can’t be helped, huh? Then, today! Let’s feel like we actually went to Comiket by enjoying 【Comiket that are depicted in Manga world】, since we cannot go out now!

Do you think that those who are reading this article now know about Comiket, in the first place?
Let me give you a super quick and easy explanation. It’s a super huge ‘meet-and-greet’ event by Anime fans. They draw manga or illustrations from their favorite Anime or Manga, (we call this a Doujinshi), and trade theirs with other fans or even sell them, and some of them do cosplaying too…… It’s a super huge fan meeting opportunity, where approximately 500,000 people from all around the world visit every year!
Yep! This is such a lovely event for all the Otaku where they can interact with many Otaku and create their own titles from their favorite ones! But! The Otaku who join this event have to get Doujinshi or a cosplay’s costume ready by that day……
For instance, look at this title, Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku (Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii)! They are talking about Comiket, too, right?

「進捗は？」
“Any update?”

「まだネーム……！！」
“I’m still doing for the name……!!”

コミケまで2週間を切っている。
Now we only have two weeks until the Comiket takes place.

Let me tell you how bad this situation is. It’s as just bad as when we wake up in the morning and we haven’t done anything like eating breakfast, taking a shower and picking the outfit even though we only have 10 minutes to leave home.
At least how many days before the Comiket’s actual day does the Doujinshi have to be completed, usually?
(It depends on each title but) I guess about a week?

So! This title depicts Otaku’s “everyday life”! This title is so popular that not only the Anime but it was also made into the live-action drama. So for those who wonder “how Japanese Otaku spend their time in their daily life”, you should give it a try!

One Spring day, a collage student, Sasahara Kanji, decided to join a club. The club was “The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture (Gendai Shichoukaku Kenkyuu=Genshiken”! The purpose of joining the club was to join the “Comic Fes”, which is a super big event, Doujinshi sales event……!! The club, which had been just a place where Otaku got together, will now step forward for the purpose by the members and Sasahara in the “Genshiken” club……!
This title’s model has to be the “Comiket” even though this one is the ‘Comic Fes’ (where they have the Doujinshi sales event and cosplaying)!
This one focuses more on the human drama aspect, rather than having one episode stand alone. With the main character, they all try to achieve the goal, overcoming various problems and difficulties……! The storyline is well-organized!

One day, Osana Najimi, was asked to come to the Doujin sales event by her friend, Tsuyuri, as a seller. There, she ran across her childhood friend, Justice. She found out that both Tsuyuri and Justice have sold tons of Doujinshi. Najimi, who is greedy, also decides to work on selling Doujinshi to make a lot of money!
What a greedy reason to start writing Doujinshi.
Well, as an unspoken rule, “we shouldn’t make excessive money from Doujinshi”. Doujinshi are not the official goods. They are allowed to sell Doujinshi so fans can interact with each other. Therefore, it’s not recommended to sell them for the excessive profit.
I guess Najimi-Chan will learn about such rules in the Doujinshi world in this story, which is one of the attractions, huh?
Right. It does have a storyline but at the same time, the whole story is full of gag too! What is Doujinshi? How can we produce them? What is the process like? What is the sales event like? We can enjoy leaning such things! I would recommend this title more to those who love the one with gag element, rather than other two; Genshiken and Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku!

Yep! Somehow they gave me a little energies! Even though we’ll be missing Comiket this month, it doesn’t mean we don’t have one forever. We’ll just wait and look forward to the next Comiket!
