Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma is a Japanese manga series written by Yūto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki.

The manga series got serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump from November 2012 to June 2019. Its 315 chapters were compiled in 36 separate volumes, published by Shueisha. The series has more than 20 million copies in circulation, worldwide.

A total of 5 seasons have been released, adapted by JC staff, with the first one releasing between April and September 2015, second season between July and September 2016, third between October and December 2017, fourth between October and December 2019, fifth and the Final season in between April and September 2020.

The story begins with Souma challenging his father, Joichiro, to a cooking match with Mayumi as the judge.

Joichiro wins again, for the 489th time. Souma forcibly feeds Mayumi his failed dish, grilled tentacles dressed in butter, which leaves a really bad taste in her mouth.

Later that evening, an urban life planner, Yaeko, enters the restaurant and threatens them to leave their shop, to which Souma refuses.

In an attempt to make them leave, Yaeko makes her men destroy everything in their kitchen.

Just then, Yaeko shows up and orders a meat dish because she knows that the meat is gone.

Surprisingly, he takes on the challenge and manages to prepare a dish that looks like meat but is not actual meat.

Yaeko takes a bite, she gets turned on by the amazing harmony of flavours and wants more.

Souma tells her that the only way she can get more is to promise never to come back, to which she agrees.

Joichiro then tells Souma that he is going to close up show for the next three years to go cook for a friend. This pisses of Souma.

However, he gets Souma the admission form to enter Totsuki culinary academy, the biggest culinary academy in Japan.

We then see a young lady whose identity is unknown at the time, calling someone’s dish “TERRIBLE”.

Will Souma be able to pass the entrance exam or will he be rejected?
