Her dream is being in the Paris Fashion Week but she lacks the minimum height requirement to be a runway model. People around her keeps telling Chiyuki to stop pursuing for the dream.

One day, Chiyuki met her classmate, Tsumura Ikuto. His dream is to be a “fashion designer that designs clothes which make people smile”. But Chiyuki said to Ikuto, “Nope. I don’t think you can be the designer.” But he never gives up on his dream. This is a story about these two characters who grow and encourage with each other. This is a now-hot ‘work’ type manga!

Occupation under this theme: Astronaut

Nanba Mutta (an older brother) does not have faith in him, always messing up at the last moment, even though he is clever.

He remembered what he wanted to be when he was a little since he has lost his job. Mutta wanted to be an astronaut. But he gave up because he could not believe in himself, becoming one.

Space Brother is a story about Mutta aiming for becoming an astronaut once again.

Mutta’s younger brother ,Hibito, was able to become an astronaut. But Hibito has been worried about his older brother, Mutta, who was also wanted to become an astronaut.

That’s why when Hibito found out that Mutta will try to become an astronaut, he was pleased from the bottom of his heart. He has wanted both of them to be astronauts.

They encourage with each other and aim to go to the “Moon”, supported by people around them. This is a very popular title which depicts how hard an unfamiliar occupation, “astronaut” would be and how precious it would be.

Occupation under this theme: Office Lady (OL) (strictly, an editor)

The story centers on 20-year-old single Matsukata Hiroko, editor.

As the chief editor of magazine, she struggles with various cases involved with her bosses, love, subordinates and all the troubles…… But she never gives up and really dedicates to her job.

Why? Because she wants to create something good. To do that, she is able to be a “Hataraki Man” (working man), who can get rid of all the troubles!!

…… It doesn’t mean she transforms to something. Whenever she is in a pinch, she turns herself into Hataraki man(working man) mode and gets over various difficulties perfectly! It’s an interesting manga!

There are no such things as superpower or fantasy element in this manga. What matters is how working women dedicate to work or what is “work” to her. She always tries to clear such things! It actually influences all the working women in Japan and has been one of the typical “business-genre-manga”!

Occupation under this theme: Salaryman (office worker)

This is one of the most famous title among five which we’re sharing in this article.

It depicts the life of a salaryman, a Japanese white-collar worker, Shima Kousaku, who devotes his life to his company in 1980s. It also has the story reflect Japanese current events or social events faithfully.

He is literally how the typical “Japanese salaryman” is. He never solves the problem in a flashy manner or tries to have fancy “victory” ending. What matters is how Japanese salaryman lives, thinks and works on a daily basis. It’s very social and gives us a clear description of Japanese salaryman.

Oh, by the way, the main character, Shima Kousaku has been promoted as the episode went on. Yeah!

Occupation under this theme: Farmer

The author is Arakawa Hiromu, who also worked on Fullmetal Alchemist and Arslan Senki. It’s so fun but crazy that we want to point out so many blemish points in this agricultural manga!

Arakawa Hiromu spent her early years until she went to Tokyo for living in Hokkaido, working in the farming business at her parents’ house. The stories are all about that timeframe. Saori’s friend, who also went to the agricultural school, knows about this story and said “There are so many things related with agriculture that I felt nostalgic!” Even Saori (I), who don’t know agriculture at all, thinks it’s fun. No wonder this was drawn by the author of Fullmetal Alchemist and Arslan Senki. This is one of the best recommended manga by me.
