Tokyo卍Revengers is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Wakui Ken-Sensei, serialized since 2017. 21 volumes of comics have been released.

As of February 2021, eight million copies have been issued. Both a live-action and an anime adaptation are scheduled to premiere. (live-action in July, anime in April) This series will definitely go viral even more. FYI, you don’t pronounce “卍”(Manji) in the title.

One day, the main protagonist, Hanagaki Takemichi, is watching TV as usual.

But then, he gets shocked at the news he’s watching. He finds out that his ex-girlfriend in their junior high school days, and her younger brother, were murdered by the Tokyo Manji Gang.

Takemichi, 26-year-old, does a part-time job for living, instead of getting a stable job.

Such a lazy life has started since he was transferred to another school, after getting rid of everything in his junior high school days. Since then, he has been spending his time as if he was running away from something, which he is conscious about.

On the same day, when he saw the shocking and worst news, which reminded him of his junior high school days…… Takemichi was pushed down to the platform in the station by “someone.”

What he recalled when the train was about to hit him was……

Tachibana Hinata, who he has dated with in his junior high school days.

Then Takemichi realized.

He’s alive but he feels something wrong…… Yes, Takemichi is no longer 26-year-old but a 14-year-old boy!! Everybody around him was who he was with at junior high school, even with the situation he was in too.

Takemichi, then, had a bad feeling……

Yes, Takemichi knows he will “encounter” them, which ended up having ruined his life.

In his junior high school days, Takemichi and his friends were targeted by some delinquents who were senior to them. The delinquents were the members of a group called “Tokyo Manji kai = Gang.” Actually, Takemichi and his friends got defeated by Tokyo Manji kai and they had to live as their following since then. That’s why he got rid of everything such as his friends, school and even his girlfriend and ran away from there.

Now he repeats his junior high school days again.

Takemichi, who is going to do the same thing as before, stops to think if it’s really okay to do. Then he saves a boy who is being involved with the delinquents in front of him…… He finds out that the boy is his girlfriend (Tachibana Hinata, who is destined to be killed)’s younger brother, Naoto.

Then Takemichi warns Naoto. He tells him that he and his older sister will be involved with Tokyo Manji kai and eventually be killed in the future. Naoto, looking skeptical, listens to the warning. Then they shake their hands and farewell……!

Then Takemichi comes back to the modern world, when he is 26-year-old.

It looks like someone has saved him, who was pushed down to the platform. However, the one who has saved him was Naori, who the news that morning said was dead!!

Naoto remembers Takemichi’s warning from junior high school days and tried to avoid being involved with the Gang with his older sister, Hinata. However, they still got involved with them and Hinata ended up being killed…… Takemichi felt so disappointed. However, Naoto goes:

Using the power, please travel back to the past again and save Hinata from the fate of death this time……!”

Then Takemichi recalls.

Hinata used to believe in him and encourage him, with her strong will and courage, where she never gives up, to save the loved one.

Takemichi ran away from his life, abandoning such beloved girlfriend, Hinata. Takemichi has now made a decision…… to change the past.

Takemichi shakes Naoto’s hand.

To save himself in his junior high school days and to save Hinata in the future…… He makes a decision to travel through time again!
