“What if you could become the strongest in another world just by having access to the internet?” The work that depicts such a dream-like premise in a thoroughly entertaining and comical way is “Sekai Saikyou no Majo, Hajimemashita: Watashi dake 'Kouryaku Site' wo Mireru Sekai de Jiyuu ni Ikimasu.” Based on the light novel by Mochimaru Sakaki, this work is a fantasy story in which a banished girl obtains extraordinary abilities and embarks on a carefree adventure. The protagonist is Rona Hermit, the daughter of the Margrave Gugurekaasu family. Judged to have a low-rank, useless ability in the skill “Internet” she was bestowed, she is driven out of her home. However, this evaluation was a tremendous mistake. In truth, that ability is an “SSS-Rank” cheat skill that surpasses even the highest rank! The development where a girl abandoned by those around her turns her life around in a way no one could imagine captures the hearts of readers from the very beginning.

The true greatness of the “Internet” Rona obtained lies in the fact that she can look up any information in this world. Actually, the world in which they live is a game world like an MMORPG called “Etaria.” The people living there go about their normal lives without realizing that they are beings equivalent to NPCs in a game. However, Rona alone can access the “strategy guide websites” used by players in the upper world. Not to mention maps, she can look up as much as she wants, from how to obtain mythical-class weapons to secrets that normally could never be known. This is truly the exact same sensation as searching for walkthrough information when playing a game, isn't it? What is more, she herself only wants to use that convenient ability to take things a little easy. Even so, while putting into practice the information written on the site, she ends up acquiring the world's strongest stats before she knows it. Different from conventional growth stories that pile up effort and hardship, her unconventional strength is truly delightful.

Although Rona has obtained the power of the world's strongest, her goal is neither world conquest nor revenge. She just wants to spend her days freely, peacefully, and enjoyably. However, contrary to her modest wish, unexpected events happen one after another at her travel destinations. Problems that an ordinary adventurer would struggle with are resolved effortlessly by using the strategy guide. Yet, those actions have an unforeseen impact on her surroundings, and situations grow bigger and bigger. Even if it is a casual action for Rona, from the perspective of other people, it is an earth-shattering major incident. This gap in perception generates the unique comedy of the work. Despite being the strongest, she does not act arrogant, and one can feel a certain approachability in the figure of the protagonist who rather pushes forward without breaking her own pace. It is likely a story perfect for people who want to enjoy a cheerful, exhilarating adventure rather than being tossed around by serious plot developments.

The appeal of this work is not just the overpowered nature brought by simple cheat abilities. Gags that skillfully incorporate internet culture and metafictional devices are also major highlights. Elements that will make you smile spontaneously are incorporated everywhere, such as internet slang, current topics, and parodies that utilize the conventions of otherworld fantasies. In the first place, the playfulness where the protagonist's name “Rona” itself is an anagram of “Narou” is also an interesting point. The more familiar readers are with otherworldly works, the more they should be able to enjoy the laughs that turn standard developments on their head. Additionally, the gap in knowledge between the inhabitants who do not know about strategy guides and Rona, who can obtain information freely, gives the story a unique tempo. In the structure where modern internet sensibility enters a serious fantasy world to give birth to bizarre commotions that would normally be unthinkable, one can feel the richness of the author's imagination.

The greatest appeal one feels upon reading “Sekai Saikyou no Majo, Hajimemashita” is the lightness that allows one to enjoy it without thinking about complicated things. While it is a story that begins with banishment, the figure of Rona, who moves forward in search of happiness in her own way without being overly bound by her past circumstances, is impressive. Even though she has immense power, the fact that its use is strictly for fully enjoying a free life gives her an individuality distinct from other overpowered protagonists. Furthermore, isn't the setting where game walkthrough information functions like reality something that anyone who usually plays RPGs has dreamed of at least once? Turning the imagination of “What if only I knew the world's secret tricks?” into such a bold adventure is the fun of this work. The story with laughter, surprises, and extraordinary feats is also recommended for people looking for an otherworld manga that can be read casually. What kind of information will Rona find next and cause a stir in the world? We increasingly cannot take our eyes off her far-too-free journey!
