[Autumn 2026 Anime] Long-beloved Garupan spin-off work finally launches! Girls & Panzer Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu!

“Girls & Panzer: Motto Love Love Sakusen desu!!” is a spin-off manga of the highly popular anime “Girls & Panzer”, created by Marco Nii. Serialized in Monthly Comic Alive, this work centers on a 4-panel manga depicting the slightly unexpected and laughter-filled daily lives of girls devoting their youth to Sensha-do. While the main series leaves a strong impression with its nail-biting tank battles and passionate bonds with friends, here the tone shifts completely, allowing readers to enjoy delightful banter among unique characters and interactions that cross the boundaries of schools. Brave as they are when riding tanks, in their daily lives they are just ordinary high school girls... or so one would like to say, but things do not seem to be quite so simple. It is a work that depicts the charm of these girls with plenty of humor and love.
The center of the story is the girls who pour their passion into Sensha-do, starting with Oarai Girls' Academy. Although the students of each school usually compete as rivals, this work puts the spotlight on casual daily life and interactions between schools that have nothing to do with winning or losing matches. Real faces that can rarely be seen on the stage of serious competition pop up one after another, and small events can develop into unexpected commotions. Furthermore, delightful people surrounding the girls join in, making the story even more lively. Rather than an epic adventure to defeat a formidable enemy, the casual exchanges between characters themselves are the highlight. Through the sight of girls united by the common thread of Sensha-do laughing, making noise, and sometimes showing unexpected sides, the fun of youth, distinct from the main series, is conveyed.
I think the charm of this manga lies above all in the gap in the characters. The girls who exude a dignified, reliable, and sometimes even inaccessible atmosphere in the main series show surprisingly approachable and somewhat clumsy sides in their daily lives. Precisely because one knows their achievements in tank battles, the contrast with their usual selves feels all the more amusing. Moreover, it is appealing that the humor does not merely use the characters to get a laugh, but consists of gags that make use of each character's personality and relationships. It is because there are scenes where one thinks, “This girl would definitely do something like this!” that affection for the world of the work deepens while laughing. The good tempo unique to 4-panel manga is also comfortable, and even if one intends to start reading casually, before realizing it, one is likely to keep turning pages to the next story and the one after that.
Considering the charm of this work that has continued for over 20 volumes, one feels a depth that does not fit into the frame of a mere gag manga. Of course, laughter is at the center, but being able to touch upon character personalities and cross-school relationships that could not be fully depicted in the main series is also a great pleasure. As the human touch of the girls, which could not be understood solely from seeing them compete in Sensha-do, becomes visible, new discoveries are likely to be born even when rewatching the original anime. The tense main series and this work that can be enjoyed with relaxed shoulders. It is precisely because these two exist that I believe the world of “Girls & Panzer” becomes even more appealing. Isn't the reason it has been loved for so long also found in such deep affection for the characters?
“Girls & Panzer: Motto Love Love Sakusen desu!!” is a spin-off manga where one can enjoy the unknown daily lives of girls devoted to Sensha-do, packed with humor. Intense tank battles are not the focus, but for that reason, being able to thoroughly savor the interactions and real faces between characters is a major attraction. Furthermore, with an anime adaptation decided, being able to enjoy their lively daily lives on screen as well is a delightful development for fans. It is a work recommended both to people who like the passionate battles of the main series and to those who like cute slice-of-life comedies. By the time one finishes reading, one will surely have come to love their favorite characters even more!
