[Winter 2026 Anime] Popular free game gets an anime! A serious mystery x suspense where a vampire-obsessed girl solves murder cases with a real vampire! “The Case Book of Arne” anime adaptation!

2026-01-23
There was a girl captivated by vampires. Her name is Lynn Reinweiß. Born into a prestigious noble family, she spends her days as a seemingly elegant lady, but in reality, she is a shut-in “otaku” obsessed with vampires. Her destiny took a drastic turn one night when she grew suspicious of her father Klaus's behavior and secretly followed him. A murder occurred before her eyes, followed by a blade closing in on her. In that moment of desperation, she wandered into Lügenberg—a city where non-human beings roam. There, she met Arne Neuntöte, a vampire hailed as the “worst of the worst.” This was the “encounter with a vampire” the girl had dreamed of, yet it didn't take long for her to realize it wouldn't end as just a dream.
Arne and Lynn, two individuals who should have lived in completely different worlds, join forces to take on numerous mysterious cases. A world where bloody murders, extraordinary tricks, and the motives of humans and supernatural beings intersect. Each case is far from simple, not only testing the reader's deductive skills but also offering depth as a human drama. “Case 1,” which depicts the Reinweiß family murders, boasts a perfect opening—carefully portraying Lynn's family environment, her relationship with her father, and her own growth, all while maintaining the tension of a suspense thriller. Through the expressive power unique to manga, the decadent and fantastical atmosphere of Lügenberg is vividly brought to life, pulling the reader deeper into that world with every turn of the page.
The charm of the character Arne Neuntöte is another major pillar supporting this story. His sarcasm, calmness, and somewhat superhuman composure are mysterious yet irresistibly attractive to readers. Furthermore, his role is not just that of a “vampire”; his sharp insight as a detective and his cold-blooded judgment regarding cases give the story a sense of gravity. On the other hand, Lynn is depicted overcoming her fears and hesitations with each case, growing from a mere vampire-loving girl into “one who challenges mysteries together.” The gradual change in their relationship throughout the story is also a highlight.
“The Case Book of Arne” is impressive for weaving in universal themes such as “human weakness” and “the nature of bonds,” going beyond a simple mystery manga or vampire fantasy. Many of the motives and human relationships behind the cases linger in the heart long after reading, possessing a depth that poses questions to the readers themselves. Sometimes sorrowful, sometimes eerie, and somehow beautiful—this story is filled with such a mysterious afterglow.
