What Is Homura-sensei wa Tabun Motenai?

It’s a four-panel manga, serialized on the illustration and manga artist, Sekaneko-Sensei’s Twitter account. In 2019, vol. 1 was released and three volumes have been released so far!
Sekaneko-Sensei does multiple works, also serializing the title called “Hakase no Mirai” in the magazine, “Manga Life Original”.

So! The reason why this title will potentially go viral this year is because…… it’s awarded 3rd place at the web manga section of the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards 2020 which took place just the other day!

It’s not serialized in the magazine, then got awarded! That means it’s been very featured on social media, huh?
What kind of story is it, then? Let’s take a look!

Outline of Homura-sensei wa Tabun Motenai!

This manga is a normal story, set in a high school.
The main protagonist, Homura-Sensei, is a high school teacher who teaches biology at high school. And Hasumi Ren-Chan is a high school girl who has a crash on him.
For instance, Homura-Sensei is this kind of teacher.
In the biology preparation room, where Homura-Sensei loves to be at, he has a little cute frog.
Ren-Chan goes, “Do you like frogs?” Then Homura-Sensei replies to her a little coldly, “Not really. I just picked it up. I might be able to use it sometime in the future.”
“Sometime in the future…… you mean for the experiment?”
“Well, when I have nothing to eat before a payday.”
He’s gonna eat it!!!!!!!!
However, the frog is alive after a couple days. (I’m relieved to know that!) Actually, Homura-Sensei is now adoring it, even named it “Yoshio”.
“If you name it, then you get attached to it and you might not be able to eat it after all, no?”
“I will eat it. After I adore him, taking a really good care of him, I’ll make Yoshio’s body part mine……!!”
What a crooked love……!!!!!!
Ren-Chan begs to him, “Please don’t eat Yoshio at least until I graduate”. (Yoshio on her hands are crying too, as if it’s saying “Yeah, please!”)
Homura-Sensei goes, “Then are you going to be responsible for Yoshio when I’m dying from hunger?” while also telling her not to get closer to Yoshio.
“Responsible……”
(Oh yeah…… I might be able to marry to him if I make him food when he’s dying, asking for help……!)
“Oh yeah…… that’s not a bad idea.”
“(I don’t know what you’re thinking but) I’m happy that you look happy too.”
So this is a story about Homura-Sensei who is insensitive and lacks freshness, and Ren-Chan who loves him.
“I like clumsy girls than the perfect ones because they are more adorable.”
He sometimes looks cool, making her heart beat fast but he’s somehow lame…… maybe not popular…… That’s Homura-Sensei.
I like this kind of laid-back atmosphere~! This is the best story to read for a change while watching the serious titles.
