Undead Unluck is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshifumi Tozuka.

It is being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump since January 2020. A total of 9 volumes have been released up till now. This series won the 6th Next Manga Award in 2020. The story revolves around an ‘Undead’ trying to find a way to end his life. He comes across a girl who gives bad luck to anyone who touches her, resulting in their death, and thinks that she might be the key to ending his long life.

An anime season has not yet been released.

The story begins with Fukko Izumo reading a Shoujo manga. As she finishes the manga, she wonders why her life couldn’t be like this and gets ready to jump off a bridge, ending her life.

The bystanders try to stop her but can’t seem to get any closer as she is holding a knife in there direction. She warns them that if any of them touches her, he will die due to her bad luck. Then Suddenly, a shirtless man with his hands tucked in his pant pockets, approaches her and walks right into the knife, scaring the hell out of Izumo.

The shirtless man grabs her face and wonders what will happen next. She warns him that her badluck is coming and at that moment, a chunk of the bridge breaks and he falls down on the tracks, getting run over by a train.

Seeing a man die because of her, she runs away.

As she is resting in an ally, she hears a voice and turns out, the severed head of the man is rolling towards her and In the next moment completely regenerates itself. Believing him to be a zombie, she tries to run away, but he catches her and explains that he is an Undead.

The Undead explains that he has been alive for centuries and wishes to die, and she may be able to help him do so. Then, to put her abilities to the test, he transports her to an isolated location and begins conducting research on how the longer someone is in contact with her, the bigger her Unluck is.

Izumo keeps fleeing, and he keeps pursuing her, conducting research by touching various parts of her skin and calculating the intensity of her Unluck.

Someone slashes his blade from nowhere, and the Undead's head falls to the ground. His head has been captured by an elite organisation that has penetrated the building.

That is when her Unluck strikes in the form of lightning, frying the man holding the Undead, freeing him.

He immediately regenerates and by tapping into his past memories of over a century, he instantly kills every last one of the men except the man holding Izumo. In an attempt to Save her, he decides to surrender and cuts off his own head, throwing it over to the Man, but at the last moment, Izumo manages to kiss his cheek.

The Undead realizes what is about to happen and immediately regenerating himself, he holds onto the man in the suit while Izumo escapes the building. Then a meteor comes crashing down on the building, completely annihilating them both. A few moments later, the Undead comes out of the debris, completely regenerated.

Izumo introduces herself and since the Undead doesn’t have a name, she decides to name him Andy.

Andy wonders that if a simple kiss can cause such destruction, what would happen if they had sex. Hearing that, Izumo again starts running away.

Will Andy be able to figure out a way to die? Or will he find a reason to live instead?
