【Fuuka】Musical x Romantic Drama! A loner’s life takes a turn for the better after he accidentally bumps into a strange girl!!

Fuuka is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koji Seo.

The manga series was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine from February 2014 to April 2018. It’s chapters are compiled and collected into 20 separate volumes, along with specials. A special edition volume was released, showing alternative endings for other heroines, named Fuuka Special Edition.

An anime television series adapted by Diomedea was released in 2017, consisting of 12 episodes.

The story begins with a boy, Yuu Haruna, walking along a street. He is so immersed in his mobile phone that he doesn’t realize his surroundings and collides with a young girl who is running in a hurry.

The young girl gets up and under the misunderstanding that Yuu was trying to take a picture of her panties, snatches his phone and breaks it on the ground, following with a punch to his face.

As she runs away after breaking his phone, Yuu finds a CD on the ground which belongs to the girl and keeps it in hopes of meeting her again.

Yuu recently moved to Tokyo and started living with his three sisters after his parents got transferred to another city. The sisters find out about the embarrassing slap and tease him about it over dinner.

The next day, he fills in his transfer student form at his new school and his teacher tells him to look around the school and find a suitable club to join.

He ends up on the school roof and decides to post a picture of the city on Twitter. He types in a caption but when he opens his camera, he sees the girl from yesterday, standing on the other side.

She remembers him from before and again thinking that he was trying to take her picture, snatches his phone and throws it off the roof.

Before she can slap him again, Yuu presents the CD which she dropped yesterday, telling her that he is not a pervert.

As Yuu is looking for his phone, she joins him in his search, saying that she wants to be sure if he was taking her picture or not. They find the phone, which luckily landed on the grass and was unscratched.

A boy walks over to them both and calls the young girl by her name, Fuuka. He then proceeds to grab her hand and forcibly take her with him. Fuuka says to let her go, but he is resilient.

Yuu tries to ignore that, saying to himself that it was her fault that his first phone broke, but being the good guy he is, he comes back and tells the guy to stop.

The boy clears the misunderstanding and says that he was just trying to recruit her in the track and field team and that her father was a national track champion. Yuu feels really embarrassed by this and runs off.

As Yuu is hiding behind the school, screaming at himself in embarrassment, Fuuka shows up behind him. Before he can say anything, she thanks him for returning the CD and for helping her, giving off a most beautiful smile.

Yuu can’t help being attracted to her. He feels as if every time he sees her, he is being pulled into the hot air that envelopes her.

He remembers that he hasn’t posted the towns picture yet. He takes out his phone and realizes that he accidentally took Fuuka’s picture earlier and the worst part being that her panties were visible. Fuuka sees the picture and proceeds to punch him, as the chapter comes to an end.

And thus beings a story of boy meets girl! What awaits Yuu as he begins his new life in the same school as Fuuka?
