Hi there!! Actually, I almost forgot the story of Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0 because I read it a long, long time ago. It's Saori from Manga Republic!

I am not sure if the contents of the comic for Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0 and the movie are the same, but I can tell you this for sure......!! It is worth reading the comic book for Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0 even if you do not watch the movie...... so you should read it!!!!

OK, from here, I will explain about the manga, Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0, as simply as possible!

Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0 contains 4 episodes. It was serialized in the monthly magazine version of Weekly Shounen Jump, “Jump GIGA” magazine in July 2017 as a short-term serialization. The title was “Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School” in the magazine.

At that time, the title was not Jujutsu Kaisen, was it?

No it wasn't. This volume 0 was released in between the Jujutsu Kaisen volumes 3 and 4, in December 2018.

I see...... then when was the story for Jujutsu Kaisen vol.1 taking place?

Jujutsu Kaisen vol.1 began around June 2018, so the story of Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0 seemed to take place about 1-1.5 years before the story of Jujutsu Kaisen vol.1.

In Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0, a high school student, Okkotsu Yuuta-kun is the main character. He was possessed by a strong curse!! The story begins with the scene of Yuuta-kun being bullied by his classmates. The curse on Yuuta was activated and the bullies were all “packed” in the locker, yes, literally “all of them were packed in a locker”.

It looks like the curse was trying to protect Yuuta-kun without Yuuta’s intention. The bullies did not die but got injured badly. Yuuta-kun may be caught by Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School......

Since the story took place at the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School about 1.5 years before Jujutsu kaisen vol.1, can you find any characters who were senior students in Jujutsu Kaisen vol.2, in Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0 ?

Yes! you can find them! The strong curse that Yuuta was possessed by was a high-grade demon curse. So, Yuuta-kun was given a death sentence. (So if Yuuta dies, the curse dies as well.) However, Gojou Satoru-sensei who was starring in Jujutsu Kaisen vol.1, tried to save him and transferred him into his class at the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School.

Wow! I know these characters well! Oh wait! The character designs look a little different.

Yes, I think so, too! Yuuta-Kun & Fushiguro-Kun and Inumaki-Kun & Itadori-Kun look similar. Jujutsu Kaisen vol.0 was the prototype of the Jujutsu Kaisen vol.1. So, the character designs must be kept.

Yuuta-kun did not know anything about the curse or that his new school would teach him about curses. He did not want to hurt anyone because of the curse he was possessed by. So, he agreed to accept the death sentence. However, he was convinced to learn how to control the curse in order to help others at the Jujutsu high school. He joined the class promptly and got to fight against some cursed monsters...... but......?

Many of you may have already noticed, but Yuuta-Kun is starring in the opening of Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd season.
